The first thing to do is to find out the Registrar that the domain name was registered through, this is not necessarily the ISP that you used to register the domain name, but the Registrar that the ISP used. There is only 1 authorities database that gives this information, you have to perform a WHOIS for the domain name at this Web site http://www.nsiregistry.com/ in order to find out who the Registrar is for the domain name. This is very important as each registrar has different methods of Administering domain names and transferring them from one ISP to another. - - If the Registrar of the domain name is - TUCOWS - or - REGISTER.COM - The domain is very hard to transfer from the above Registrars and it is best to either change the Name Server details for the domain to Hotchilli DNS servers, or transfer from TUCOWS and REGISTER.COM to our Registrar which is INWW (Melbourne IT). Our details are as follows; - Primary Name Server : dns0.hotchilli.net - Primary IP : 217.72.162.2 - Secondary Name Server : dns1.hotchilli.net - Secondary IP : 217.72.163.3 - PLEASE NOTE - DNS Propagation can take anywhere from 12 to 48 hours - so your domain may not be visible on Hotchilli's servers and network for a few hours after the transfer has taken place. - If you want us to transfer the domain to our Registrar, there is a cost of £30 which also includes 1 years registration, we will initiate transfer on your behalf. - - If the Registrar of the domain name is - NETWORKSOLTUIONS - STEP 1 - You can initiate the transfer yourself by entering your email address and the domain name you wish to modify at http://www.networksolutions.com/cgi-bin/makechanges/domain.mod - STEP 2 - Another Form will then appear - You need to only alter 7 fields on this form. - There are 3 fields on the form for : Administrative Contact/Agent, Technical Contact and Billing Contact. You need to delete the Handle that appears in the fields and replace each one with Hotchilli's NIC Handle - our NIC Handle is "TA2090-ORG". - The other 4 fields you have to edit are the "Name Server Information" fields. Please enter the following information into the relevant fields; - - Primary Name Server : dns0.hotchilli.net - Primary IP : 217.72.162.2 - Secondary Name Server : dns1.hotchilli.net - Secondary IP : 217.72.163.3 - - Once you have submitted the form, the "Administrative Contact" for the domain will receive an email notifying them of the request to channel details for the domain. To find out who the "Administrative Contact" for the domain is use http://www.networksolutions.com/cgi-bin/whois/whois/ to perform a WHOIS on the domain. - The Administrative Contact for the domain must agree to the changes for the domain in order for the modification to be successful. There are 2 emails sent to the Admin contact from Network Solutions, the first one must simply be returned - from the same email address as shown via the WHOIS results, the second email from Network Solutions asks the Admin contact to Agree or disagree with the modification. Only the admin contact can do this. - As usual - please allow time for the DNS to propagate. - - If the Registrar shows as ENOM - You just have to ask you current ISP to "Push" the domain name into Hotchilli's ENOM account - out account is "Hotchilli" - your ISP will understand this and know what to do. Please let Hotchilli know once this has been done so that we can modify Name server details for the domain, you will need to contact you old ISP to confirm that they have made the change. - - If the Registrar shows as MelbourneIT, INWW or Internet Names World-wide - You ISP would have been given a "Key" by the above Registrars. Please ask the ISP for the "Key" so we can put the domain into our Account with the above companies and make the Name server changes. - - If the Registrar is a CORE member - or the domain names shows a "COCO Handle" - Then you need to ask your current ISP to transfer the Technical, Admin and Billing Handles to Hotchilli's CORE Handles - our CORE Handle is "COCO-53683". Again, please let Hotchilli know once this has been done so that we can modify Name server details for the domain, you will need to contact you old ISP to confirm that they have made the change or perform a WHOIS on the domain name. - ================================================ For .uk.com, uk.net, eu.com or any other CentralNIC domain names ================================================ - You need to ask your current ISP to transfer the Technical, Admin and Billing Handles to Hotchilli's CentralNIC's Handles - our CentralNIC Handle is "I20888".
